Sofema Online – considers a number of best practices which can strengthen the relationship with the CAMO and serve to protect the integrity of the MRO

Establish and Maintain a Joint Procedures Manual (JPM)

• Develop a mutually agreed JPM with each CAMO partner to define how tasks, deviations, approvals, documentation, and quality oversight will be handled.

• Ensure the JPM references both the MOE and CAME where applicable, aligning specific operational and regulatory procedures.

• Review and refine the JPM after each major project.

Ensure Representation and Participation in Pre-Maintenance Planning

• Insist on early involvement in planning discussions to assess tooling, manpower, parts availability, and known aircraft issues.

• Send experienced planners or production leads to pre-check meetings to flag potential risks or technical bottlenecks early.

Nominate a Dedicated CAMO Liaison with Clear Authority

• Assign a single point of contact (POC) for each CAMO client – ideally someone experienced and empowered to make operational decisions.

• During major projects, ensure this liaison is supported by a clearly defined communication plan and escalation protocol.

Integrate CAMO-Specific Procedures and Standards into AMO Training

• Cross-train certifying staff and planners on key CAMO customer expectations, especially for MEL handling, documentation formats, and quality levels beyond minimum compliance.

• Provide training refreshers before major projects involving CAMO clients or lease transitions.

Maintain Transparent Quality and Audit Feedback Loops

• Share relevant AMO internal audit findings and safety reports with CAMO clients where applicable.

• Request and review CAMO feedback regularly, using it to drive internal continuous improvement.

Utilize Shared Tools and Platforms for Real-Time Collaboration

• Offer secure guest access to maintenance tracking systems or data upload portals to allow CAMOs to view progress and task completion in real time.

• During projects, commit to daily or shift-based stand-up meetings to flag issues early and maintain momentum.

Vet and Validate Capability for STC, Mods, and Complex Tasks

• Proactively confirm whether your organisation has the approval, tooling, and experience for all STC or major mod work in the scope.

• Where one-time approvals or subcontractor support are required, coordinate and document this with the CAMO in advance to avoid delays or non-compliance.
